The U.S. Senate voted 51-47 to block President Trump's national emergency declaration that enabled sweeping global tariffs, with four Republicans breaking ranks. While largely symbolic—given expected veto overrides—the MOVE signals growing bipartisan resistance to Trump's trade policies.

Separate resolutions challenging tariffs on Brazil and Canada also passed this week. "Congress holds clear authority on trade matters," asserted Senator RON Wyden (D-OR), underscoring legislative pushback against executive trade actions.
